Q.What is travel soccer?

A.We enter our teams into the Philadelphia Area Girls Soccer League (girls) and the DELCO Soccer League (boys).  These are competitive leagues that have multiple levels of competition at each age group.  Teams that enter into these two leagues are, for the most part, from the Southeastern part of Pennsylvania.  Our teams play our home games at Baxter Park in King of Prussia, PA and travel to away games at the home field of the opponent.

Q.How much travel is involved?

A.On average, each away game is approximately 30 minutes away.  On average, each team has 5 away games per season.

Q.When are the games played?

A.Regular season games are played on Saturday or Sunday.

Q.How long is the regular season?

A.The regular season starts after Labor Day and finishes in November.

Q.How long are the games?

A.The length of each game varies dependent on the age group.  Game lengths range from 50 minutes for the youngest age group to 90 minutes for the oldest age group.

Q.When are practices?

A.Practices are held during the preseason (mid July to end of August) on week nights.

Q.How often do teams practice?

A.The frequency of practice sessions is determined by the Head Coach, but generally teams practice two nights per week.

Q.What nights during the week do teams practice?

A.A practice schedule is developed by the Club in the beginning of July and issued to each Head Coach.  Therefore the nights are to be determined.

Q.How long are practice sessions?

A.The length is set by the Head Coach, but the practice schedule will have a maximum session length set at 90 minutes.

Q.How do I register my child?

A.Click on the "Travel Soccer" tab.  Instructions can be found on that page.

Q.What does the registration fee cover?

A.The registration fee covers the cost for the child's fall season, league entry fees, referee fees, equipment costs (soccer balls, nets, goals, etc.), travel bag (first year only) as well as the costs to operate the club such as training, field maintenance, etc. The uniforms have to be purchased separately.

Q.Why is registration in late March or early April when the season doesn't start until mid-September?

A.The reason we schedule registration in late March/early April is because the league requires each team to be registered by early June.

Q.Is there a discount for multiple children from one family?

A.Yes.  Each family will pay for a maximum of two children per season.

Q.How does the King of Prussia Soccer Club determine which team to assign my child?

A.Players are assigned to teams first by age and then by skill level.  Each returning player is automatically moved up one age group.  The Club reserves the right to move players to a higher or lower age group when the Club feels that the move would benefit the player and/or the Club (i.e roster space availability).  In the case where we have more than enough players for one team at any age group, all registered players from that age group are invited to attend a “placement session” where experienced trainers review the skill level of all of the players that attend.  The Club uses the recommendation of the trainers and input from the previous year’s Head Coach (where applicable) to determine which team to place each player.

Q.Can my son/daughter be placed on one of his/her friend's teams to help me with carpooling?

A.See previous question on how players are assigned.  We recommend that after your son/daughter is placed on a team, that you speak to the parents of the other players on that team to work out car pooling arrangements.

Q. My child is a year younger than his friends in a higher age group.  Can they be on the same team because they are friends/classmates?

A.See previous question on how players are assigned.

Q.Can my younger son (daughter) play on the same team as his (her) brother (sister) given that they are three years apart?

A.Generally speaking, No.  Three years difference is usually too much of a gap and the younger sibling will not be able to play at the level of the older sibling’s team.

Q.How much playing time will my child get in the game?

A.The King of Prussia Soccer Club requires that each player play in every game.  The specific amount of time per game will depend on variables such as the number of players at the game, the player’s conditioning, etc.  The Head Coach will determine the amount of playing time given to each player.

Q.Do you need volunteers for coaches?

A.Yes.  Although soccer experience is very helpful, it is not mandatory as we will give our coaches the training needed.
