King of Prussia Soccer Club

KOPSC Letter To Club Members and Alumni

Dear Club Members and Alumni,

The KOPSC Board has learned that the Upper Merion School Board proposed the construction of tennis courts at Baxter Field and voted to conduct a Feasibility Analysis during its November 6, 2023 public meeting. This vote is a first step by the School Board that could ultimately render Baxter Field no longer usable by our club of 700 players or, at best, significantly diminish the club’s use of Baxter Field. Our Board is working to gain more information and to evaluate our options but believes an immediate response from our community will help the School Board understand how meaningful and important Baxter Field is to us.

As you all know, Baxter Field serves as a crucial hub for fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and the love of soccer among our players. The proposal by the Upper Merion School Board to replace these fields with tennis courts overlooks the longstanding traditions and passion for soccer within the Upper Merion community. Throughout its history, our Club has remained dedicated to facility improvements at Baxter Field including joining the School District and Township in the construction of the clubhouse, managing irrigation system improvements, and assisting with the lightbulb replacement project. KOPSC maintains Baxter Field physically and financially and has done so in agreement with the Township of Upper Merion for 24 years. Our Board continues to establish budgets to maintain and further revitalize the fields heading into the 2024-2025 season.

As dedicated members of the King of Prussia Soccer Club, we believe it is crucial that we unite in opposition to any plan that would eliminate or lessen our use of Baxter Field. Our collective voice holds immense power and together we can convey the importance of preserving all of the soccer fields for our current players and future generations.

If you are willing to join the KOPSC Board to contest the construction of tennis courts on Baxter Field, our soccer fields, we invite you to sign our petition asking the Upper Merion School Board to reconsider its position. Additionally, your involvement in spreading awareness within our soccer community will be instrumental in garnering the support needed to protect our beloved fields. Our Board will continue to update you regarding our action items and ways you can help as members of this special community. We anticipate requests for further action from our current members and alumni including emails, phone calls, and letters to the School Board Members as well as attending upcoming School Board Meetings which are held on the first Monday of each month.

United, we will demonstrate the strength and passion of the King of Prussia Soccer Club to the school board, emphasizing Baxter Field, our soccer fields, are the heart of a vibrant and dedicated community. If you would like to directly help with this effort please let us know at [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to working together to ensure the preservation of our soccer legacy.

Sincerely,

KOPSC Board
