King of Prussia Soccer Club

Expectations for Competitive Academy

Training

  • The majority of competitive teams train a minimum of 2 times per week for 1.5 hours per practice. In some cases, a team may train 1 time per week.
  • Training for the Fall season begins the second half of July. We understand families are away on vacation during these summer months and there may be some missed practices.
  • Players learn teamwork and how to translate it onto the field of play. Training typically includes formation, skill training, and fun. KOPSC follows the Play-Practice-Play model utilized by US Soccer. A strong slant is put on the technical ability of the player and tactical awareness.
  • Trainings, practices, and games are mandatory but KOPSC understands absences do occur. Any absences are to be communicated to the team coach or manager as soon as known.

Coaches/Trainers

  • KOPSC coaches are volunteers but all Competitive Academy coaches are expected to be licensed coaches. KOPSC assists in facilitating licensing for our Competitive Academy coaches.
  • The club has incorporated paid trainers to facilitate and provide the technical and tactical training to help develop players’ skill sets. The paid trainers will also run skill specified clinics through the seasons as possible.
  • Should a team choose to hire an additional trainer or scheduled additional outside training sessions, the additional cost will be communicated to you directly from your coach or management with the option to participate.

Players’ Commitment Level and Attendance

  • Competitive players agree to a much higher commitment level than intramural and are required to attend all scheduled training sessions, games, and tournaments. Lack of attendance may reduce game playing time.
  • Playing time will be mostly equal for u8-u12 teams however attitude and commitment may affect playing time.
  • For u13 and up, playing time will be based on attitude, commitment, and ability.

Games

  • Each Competitive Academy season typically includes five to eight games both home and away.

Tournaments

  • Teams will attend 1-2 tournaments annually, but some teams may do more.
  • Competitive Academy tournaments are recommended by the club technical director.
  • Tournaments shall include any tournament hosted by KOPSC, as well as other familiar local tournaments

Summer Clinics

  • At this time, we do not anticipate summer clinics.

New Competitive Academy uniforms will be premiered for the 2024-2025 season so that all competitive players will be required to purchase a new uniform this season.
